How can a media company retain readers over the long term—at a time when attention is becoming a scarce resource? Stefanie Maier offers insights into her work as Director of Loyalty & Events at the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich. In her presentation, she demonstrates how innovative event formats, community building, and strategic customer retention work together to bring journalism to life.
Stefanie Maier completed an apprenticeship at “Der Tagesspiegel” before moving to Egmont after three years. She has been working at the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 2019, where, as Director of Loyalty & Events, she holds strategic responsibility for editorial events and media partnerships. In addition, she has been responsible for the strategic and operational management of conferences such as the SZ Economic Summit and the SZ Sustainability Summit for many years.
Drawing on her expertise in marketing and customer retention, Stefanie Maier and her team develop and implement effective strategies to optimize customer experiences and build long-term relationships. From editorial events to strategic media partnerships, she designs formats that strengthen the brand and foster loyalty.
